My Frangipani on the Legendary Island
Hi vacationers! I just got back from Langkawi with Shahel, my blog assistant. We were part of Zoom Malaysia's 66-pax media entourage from Kuala Lumpur. At first I was a bit hesitated about the trip, knowing that I have covered most of the tourist spots on the island.
But hey, this time around they included new venues such as the Shrimpz, which is the largest commercial shrimp breeding ponds in Langkawi, hornbill watching at Gunung Raya and much more.
While Shahel might have his first idea of what media fam trip is, I actually was more excited to cover the soft launch of Climate Change Convention which Langkawi plays host next year. But first, this is entry about the resort we stayed in for 2 nights.
The Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa is situated along Pantai Tengah, in the southwest of the island. The resort features a 400-metre long beachfront of soft white sands. It is located just 15 minutes drive from Langkawi International Airport, 30 minutes away from the main township of Kuah and walking distance to the hustle and bustle of Pantai Tengah's shops, restaurants, cafés and bars.
All guestrooms potrays modern interiors that incorporate elements of the local Malaysian culture. Bungalow rooms have spacious verandahs (yes, very spacious I can throw my pillows and sleep) with comfortable seating set facing well-kept gardens.
And yeah, all the villas have semi-outdoor baths (they call it rainforest baths). I love it so much! Never before I had the opportunity to flash myself to the geckos and birds while sensually playing with soap and shampoo! Hahaha. (Eh wait... I already did that in Japamala Resort, Tioman... hmm)
While the contemporary amenities complemented by teak wood to create a relaxed ambience, I also found that facilities such as cable TV, bathtub, coffee and tea maker, mini bar and IDD phone completed our need during our stay.
Enough of the rooms. Let's go out in the sun!
There are two swimming pools, two jacuzzis and a traditional spa... waiting for us to plunge ourselves in. I should recommend the jacuzzis, they're soooo gooood! Good enough to loosen the tight muscles after all the hard work (hard work? Me and Shahel were actually having fun!)
Other resort facilities and services include a gift shop, meeting room, airport transfers, tour desk, watersports and passive recreation activities like nature walks and bird watching.
The Mentari Grill has an open view of the pool and the Andaman Sea with choices of indoor dining or on an open deck. Delicious meals with a selection od Asian and international dishes complement the casual brasserie-styled ambience. For those who wants to worship the moon and the sound of the waves, Coco Jam Beach Bistro offers cool selection of beverages. Oops, before that, don't forget to snap some photos at the Frangipani Boat, especially during sunset!
What we love about this resort is its green effort. It supports and implements the principles of responsible touism by adopting environmentally-friendly practices to reduce the resort's impact upon the local environment. Over 100 practices are currently in place to reduce, reuse and to recycle in order to save the valuable resources.
We were told that the staff work with the local community to protect the beachfront and Langkawi's other natural assets. They encourage guest to share those endeavors to ensure that Langkawi's natural attractions will continue to be enjoyed by more generations to come.
